Information for disabled guests or those with reduced mobility

We welcome people with all disabilities and, as with all of our guests, will strive to ensure their comfort and wellbeing during their stay. Please discuss your particular accessibility requirements with a member of our Reservations Team at the time of booking.

A WARM WELCOME

As there are stairs at the main castle entrance, we kindly suggest that guests who are in a wheelchair or have mobility issues park in the Day Guest carpark where disabled car parking spaces are marked.

Assistance with check in and luggage is available at Spa Reception.

The Spencer Room

“Elliot” (360° tours above) is a deluxe twin room with bathroom including a separate walk-in shower (with lip on entering), conveniently located in the main castle and would be suitable for those with mobility issues, but not reliant on a wheelchair.

“Spencer” (360° tour above) is a classic double room with king-sized bed located on the first floor of the spa courtyard with lift access however the shower has a lip on entering and therefore unsuitable for wheelchairs.

Kailzie” is a twin room located in Castle Lodge, a 200 yard outside walk from the main castle. It features a wet room and patio doors for entering and exiting in a wheelchair.

Taylor” (pictured below) is a wheelchair accessible, superior twin room located in Park lodge with outside access to the main castle to avoid the stairs and the bathroom has a walk-in shower with no lip.

FOOD AND BEVERAGE
Dining Room

The Dining Rooms and Courtyard Café are all located on the ground floor. The Cocktail Lounge is on the upper floor of the spa and may be accessed via the lift. The lift cannot be used in the event of a fire, however a safety procedure is in place for this unlikely event.

SPA
Swimming Pool Access

All corridors and doors are wide enough to accommodate wheelchairs.

The mixed sauna features adequate space for those reliant on a wheelchair, the various steam rooms are smaller and wheelchairs may be left directly outside.

Steps and handrails offer assistance when accessing the swimming pool, and a hoist is available on request.

Our outdoor Hot Tubs are not flush to the floor and require a step to access.

Disabled access shower and toilet available.

SPA TREATMENTS

A lift is available to access the upper floor treatment rooms. The lift cannot be used in the event of a fire, however a safety procedure is in place for this unlikely event.

Treatment rooms can accommodate wheelchairs and treatments beds can be lowered for guests to transfer over. Our therapists are not trained to lift clients, however carers are very welcome to assist.

With prior warning, every effort will be made to adapt our treatment procedures where necessary.

The castle’s age and listed status unfortunately prevents us from making the alterations necessary to create fully disabled access throughout the whole building and please note that our staff are not medically trained.

We have previously been able to have a wheelchair on-site for guests’ use, however a change in Health & Safety legislation means we are unfortunately no longer able to provide this.

We would be delighted to hear from you if you have any particular requirements – our team are always available to help you make the most of your time with us.
